Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is pursuing justice against perpetrators of deepfake pornography, as she seeks damages amounting to $108,200 (€100,000) in a civil trial set to commence on July 2. The trial centers around two individuals accused of creating and disseminating pornographic deepfake videos featuring Meloni’s likeness.
Scheduled to testify in a Sardinian court, Meloni aims to hold the accused accountable for allegedly superimposing her face onto adult film performers’ bodies and distributing the fabricated content on a US-based pornographic website back in 2020. The defendants, identified as a 40-year-old and his 73-year-old father, currently both are facing criminal defamation charges.
As per the criminal complaint lodged by Meloni, These videos and pictures were accessible on internet for several months and garnered million of views
When these illicit pictures and videos were circulated, Meloni was actively campaigning for role of prime minister as the leader of the Brothers of Italy party. After that, she secured victory in the 2022 general elections became Itali’s PM.
