Indian Diplomat Prashant Pise Named Ambassador to Slovenia

The Ministry of External Affairs announced on Thursday that Prashant Pise, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 1995 batch, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Slovenia. Pise, currently serving as India’s envoy in Iraq, will soon assume his new role in Slovenia.

In an official press release, the MEA stated, “Shri L. Prashant Pise (IFS: 1995), presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Iraq has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Slovenia.” The appointment highlights the ongoing diplomatic relations between India and Slovenia, which saw the establishment of India’s resident Mission in Ljubljana in February 2007.

Concurrently, Soumendu Bagchi, an IFS officer of the 1993 batch, has been appointed as India’s next ambassador to Iraq. Bagchi, presently serving as the Deputy Director-General at ICWA, will succeed Prashant Pise in this crucial diplomatic role.

Moreover, Abhilasha Joshi, an IFS officer of the 1995 batch and the present Additional Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as India’s next ambassador to Chile. Joshi’s appointment underscores the strengthening ties between India and Chile, characterized by warmth and a shared vision on various fronts.

The forthcoming assignments of these seasoned diplomats signify India’s commitment to bolstering diplomatic engagements with Slovenia, Iraq, and Chile, further deepening bilateral relations and fostering cooperation on diverse issues of mutual interest.
