In a March 25 statement to an entertainment website, Homeland Security Investigations confirmed they had “carried out law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation” and would “provide further information as it becomes available.” The day after the raids, Combs responded through his lawyer Aaron Dyer. Dyer said in a statement that there had been an “overuse of military-level force” during the execution of the search warrants at Combs’ homes. Dyer added, “There is no justification for the extreme show of force and hostility shown by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated.”
He noted the raids were an “unprecedented ambush” but Combs was not detained. Dyer also called the raids a “witch hunt,” adding Combs had “spoken to and cooperated with authorities. There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability regarding any of these allegations,” Dyer continued concluding, “Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every day to clear his name.”
