Saudi Arabia will be participating in the Miss Universe beauty pageant for the first time in 2024, marking a historic milestone for the conservative Islamic nation. Rumy Alqahtani, an experienced Saudi model and social media influencer, announced via Instagram that she will be representing the kingdom in the globally renowned pageant. Alqahtani shared glamorous photos of herself on Instagram posing in a sparkling strapless gown. In her post captioned in Arabic, she expressed feeling honoured to participate in Miss Universe 2024 as Saudi Arabia’s debut contestant.
The Riyadh-born Alqahtani is no amateur when it comes to the limelight. She has competed in numerous international pageants over the years, most recently Miss and Mrs Global Asian in Malaysia. Last year, Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios won the Miss Universe 2023 crown, with Miss Thailand and Miss Australia placing second and third.
