Israel’s Ministry of Transportation is set to introduce the “Transportation Justice” program on Monday, March 25, heralding it as a groundbreaking initiative in public transportation pricing. Young adults up to the age of 26, individuals with disabilities, and those eligible for disability benefits will also benefit from discounts ranging in the tens of percentage points, with monthly bus subscriptions receiving a 50 percent discount for qualifying individuals.
The program will be implemented in two phases, with the initial phase launching imminently and the subsequent phase scheduled for rollout in the coming months. The latter phase will extend complimentary travel privileges to senior citizens, encompassing women aged 62 and above and men aged 67 and above.
